The Umbrella Academy left things very up in the air in its final episode.
Number Five (played by Aidan Gallagher) brought a lot of the conflict to the 10 episodes of the show.
At first, he revealed the imminent end of the world and went on to get tracked down by Hazel (Cameron Britton) and Cha-Cha (Mary J Blige).
The latter event prompted a number of fights between the Academy and the assassins, raising the tension even more.
But fans of the show are feeling extremely tense this week, with season two has yet to be announced, and Number Five actor Aidan tweeted something a little worrying.
Speaking to his 160,000 followers he announced: “Thank you for the role of a lifetime!
“I will always look back and say wow that was the coolest role I ever played! #Netflix #UCP #darkhorse #gerardway #gabrielba.”
Aidan’s followers have taken this to mean he may not be returning to the show – or worse, that the show has not been picked up for a second season.
Distraught, his followers began tweeting at him in confusion, with one uttering: “This sounds so final take it back right now.”
Another asked: “Is this you saying there won’t be a season two?”
A third joked: “Ok is this an early April fools joke hehe.”(sic)
While other viewers turned to the comic books for inspiration.
One fan wrote: “I think in the comics it says that he will remain in a 13-year-old body no matter where he travels, as Pogo said there is no cell growth or deterioration in his body.”
But could this mean a different young actor has been cast as Number Five in a potential second season?
Or has the second season simply not been picked cup by Netflix yet?
Recently Luther Hargreaves actor Tom Hopper and Allison Hargreaves actor Emmy Raver-Lampman spoke about the potential second season.
Appearing at MCM Comic Con Birmingham, Emmy replied to a question regarding another season by saying: “I wish! Call up Netflix.”
Tom was equally as clueless as he didn’t add anything further to the subject.
It is currently unknown if the show will receive another season from Netflix.
