British airline Jet2.com has been announced as the best airline in Europe, the UK and the ninth-best airline in the world by the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards for Airlines.
The annual awards aim to identify traveller’s favourite airlines using an algorithm that looks at the quantity and quality of airline reviews on TripAdvisor’s site over a 12-month period.
As well as being named the best airline in the UK and Europe, Jet2.com also takes the title of the Best Low Cost Airline in Europe and the Best Economy Service in Europe.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “It shows that Jet2.com is a world leader when it comes to delivering first-class customer service. The awards are living proof that our investment in customer service is working, because they are based on the experiences of paying customers.”
Singapore Airlines took the title of the World’s Best Airline at the awards, followed by Qatar Airlines and Tawainese carrier EVA Air.
The best first class cabins was awarded to Emirates, while Qatar Airlines can now claim to have the best business class cabins. Air New Zealand holds the title of best premium economy seating and Singapore Airlines has the best economy cabins.
Hayley Coleman, TripAdvisor spokesperson, said in a statement: “The global fascination with Harry and Meghan clearly has a powerful effect as this is the first time since 2016 that London has topped the world rankings. With the couple’s new Royal baby due imminently, London may continue to reap the rewards of the Harry and Meghan effect into 2020.”
