The UK travel agent with the most holiday complaints revealed – have you booked with them?

Holidays from hell – as opposed to an idyllic, heavenly escape – often spark a flurry of complaints from irked travellers. They may in first instance write, call or email the flights, accommodation or travel company in question. If this does not prompt a response or action, those online-savvy holidaymakers may then take to social media site Twitter to air their gripes. Through this barrage of unhappiness, the worst travel agent in the UK has been supposedly pinpointed.

Company Craptravel.com has analysed Twitter to find the most complained about travel agents in the UK.

To do so, they inspected more than 20,000 tweets about nine of the biggest travel agents, before a Google Sentiment Analysis API put the result under radar.

This then sparks a negativity score based on the number of less than favourable messages the company gets.

Craptravel updates weekly, so this is subject to great changes, should there be for example be a flight strike, like the walkout of Ryanair pilots in September.

UK based holiday provider TUI has come out top with a total of 21 per cent of Tweets marked as negative.

TUI boasts offshoot holiday provider, TUI Cruises, which offers a variety of river routes and cruise ship deals

Jet2Holidays and Expedia came joint second with 15 per cent distasteful Tweet rate, while Thomas Cook was third one per cent behind.

Tipping the other end of the scale, he best travel agents were luxury travel brand Kuoni (4 per cent) and student travel agent, STA (3 per cent) both coming in with only four percent of bad tweets.

The findings come as association of travel agents, ABTA boasts a 12 percent rise in holiday bookings compared to 2018.

Britons’ desire for a vacation overseas also comes against the backdrop of a weak pound exchange rate, which has slumped amid fears of a no deal Brexit on October 31.

Express.co.uk has gone to TUI for comment.
