The Trial of Christine Keeler, the BBC’s latest all-star cast drama, wrapped filming in Bristol last week. The BBC series, which has an expected release date in November 2019 and a plot that will bring to life the details of the Profumo Affair sex scandal. Sophie Cookson will star as Christine Keeler while James Norton plays Stephen Ward and Ellie Bamber features as Mandy Rice-Davies in the series that does not have a trailer yet.

When is The Trial of Christine Keeler out?

According to Somerset Live, the release date for The Trial of Christine Keeler is November 2019.

Filming has just wrapped in Bristol after a 17-week shoot according to the Bristol Film Office,

They said of the production: “The Trial of Christine Keeler will feature the largest number of Bristol locations used in a single drama for years, which is fantastic to see.”

The Trial of Christine Keeler will have six hour-long episodes, though the BBC has not revealed whether these will air weekly or as a boxset.

Who is in the cast of The Trial of Christine Keeler?

Kingsmen star Sophie Cookson leads the cast as Christine Keeler, described by the Bristol Film Office as: “A young woman whom the powerful, male-dominated establishment sought to silence and exploit, but who refused to play by their rules.”

Grantchester’s James Norton will star as Stephen Ward, the notorious celebrity osteopath whose story appeared in an episode of The Crown season two most recently.

Other key roles in the series are filled by Les Misérables’ Ellie Bamber as Mandy Rice-Davies, White Dragon’s Rosalind Halstead as Bronwen Astor and Misfits’ Nathan Stewart-Jarrett as Johnny Edgecombe.

John Profumo, who gives the Profumo Affair its name, will be played by Ben Miles of The Crown, while Silent Witness’ Emilia Fox joins the cast as his wife Valerie.

What will happen in The Trial of Christine Keeler?

The Bristol Film Office says the mini-series will take us: “Behind the headlines to tell a human story about the sexual and cultural politics of one of the most revealing and iconic stories of modern times.”

The Trial of Christine Keeler retells the story of the Profumo Affair, a 1961 scandal that began with Minister for War John Profumo’s affair with 19-year-old model Christine Keeler.

As the press investigated this affair, they found that Keeler may have also been dating Soviet naval attache Yevgeny Ivanov (played by Visar Vishka) alongside Profumo, both of whom she met through Ward.

This scandal was last brought to the screen in the last episode of The Crown season two, but was also the subject of Scandal, a 1989 film starring Ian McKellen and John Hurt and 2013 Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical Stephen Ward.

Is there a trailer for The Trial of Christine Keeler?

No promo has been released for The Trial of Christine Keeler as of April 2019.

With filming now concluded, however, footage could soon be revealed from the BBC series.

However, a full trailer is not expected until autumn 2019.
