YOU do not have to head to Greggs to get your hands on a vegan sausage roll.
After the country went mad for the bakery chain’s sell-out savoury vegan snack back in January, many supermarkets have just jumped on the meat-free wagon with various versions of veggie and vegan snacks.

Here is a look at some of the treats available and the savings you can make.
- ON A ROLL: Tesco has just recreated Greggs meat-free sausage roll and you can get your hands on one fresh from the supermarket’s bakery for 75p — 25p cheaper than Greggs’ £1 offering. The roll contains no meat or dairy and features a puff pastry filled with a soya-based Lincolnshire-style sausage seasoned with sage and onion. You can also pick up 30 miniature frozen vegan sausage rolls for just £1.75.
SAVE: 25p - SMOKY BARBECUE TWIST: First Morrisons came up with Veggies In Blankets, then came No-Moozarella Dippers and now it has got vegan BBQ Jackfruit Mini Hot Dogs — which are similar to American fast-food favourite corndogs. They cost only £2.50 for a pack of eight. Its meat-free sausages and burgers are also £1.50 each or on a three-for- £4 offer.
SAVE: 50p - LOOKALIKE BURGERS: They may look and feel like beef but the Meatless Farm burgers are made mainly of soya protein, pea protein and rice protein. Get a pack of two for £2 from Sainsbury’s, down from £2.50.
SAVE: 50p - NO PORKIES: Iceland has its own brand of non-meat chorizo with its No Porkies Vegan Chorizo Slices at £2.50 for 200g.
They have all the smoky and spicy characteristics of your typical Spanish sausage. If you fancy pizza, Iceland’s range of No Cheese pizzas start at £2, which is cheaper than the Goodfellas £2.50 offering at Tesco.
