The Super Switch’s Ben Lyall has spoken out following his worrying emotional breakdown on the show.

During Wednesday’s episode, the Wollongong miner, 35, contemplated leaving the experiment due to insecurities about his relationship with girlfriend-of-two-years Christie Cassar.

He told NW magazine that his behaviour stemmed from Christie’s shocking admission that if it wasn’t for the show, they wouldn’t be together.

‘She said it like six weeks leading into it,’ Ben explained.

‘We were fighting and having a terrible relationship and she said to me, “If we didn’t have this show coming up”… because it was almost like we had something to stay together for.’

He continued: ‘Channel Seven had already locked us in, picked our personalities and how everyone was going to gel, and then we’re there going, “Yeah, nah” [about staying together]. It haunted me for weeks.’

During Wednesday’s episode, he told Olga he wasn’t coping.

‘I just worry that Christie… I feel like I may not be good enough and I don’t want to get to the end of this and her leave me,’ he said.

‘I’m not overly excited about the rest of the experiment and I’m emotionally drained and emotionally exhausted. I’m struggling with all these demons in my own mind.
