The Pagans S.O.H take Shaun Ryder on a ‘Pagan Pilgrimage’ with their latest release

Influenced by the likes of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, the Black Country five-piece promise a heavier and more psychedelic sound, and a video that includes Happy Mondays’ legend, Shaun Ryder. The video was directed by Paul Husband, an award-winning music photographer, and was filmed at The Kings Arms pub in Salford, Manchester. The band’s frontman, Marcus Lesycsyznski-Hall says: “Anyone who has ever seen us live knows our style is unique, so they won’t be surprised ‘Pagan Pilgrimage’ takes a totally different direction from our last song.

“We love Paul’s work, it’s dark and interesting so it made total sense to get him on board to really capture the surreal tone we were going for.”

“When we found out that Shaun Ryder had also agreed to appear in the video, we were absolutely buzzin’.

“Not bad for a few young lads from the West Midlands releasing their second tune is it…”

Shaun will be embarking on a 30 date greatest hits tour with the Happy Mondays later on this year, and said: “It was a pleasure to appear in the new video for ‘Pagan Pilgrimage’ – filmed in my hometown of Salford!”

“[They’re a] Great band – their energy reminds me of the Mondays when we were staring out.”, he added.

Shaun isn’t the only celebrity set to make a cameo appearance in the video however.

Bassist for the Elbows, Peter Turner, and Dawn Acton, best known for playing a young Tracy Barlow in Corrie, can also be spotted in ‘Pagan Pilgrimage’.

When asked about the new track, Pete had nothing but compliments, stating that he “couldn’t wait to see people’s reactions to this exciting new band.”, while Dawn said they “all had great fun filming the video, it was full of so many colourful characters who definitely wouldn’t have looked out of place at The Rovers Return.”

The track was produced by Gavin Monaghan at the ‘Magic Gardens Studio’ in Wolverhampton. Pagan Pilgrimage will be released via the Fade To Dust level, and will be available across most online platforms.
