The Ordinary is having an epic sale, so we reveal what GLAMOUR editors are stocking up on

Beginning to curate your Black Friday wishlist? You’re not alone – since the biggest shopping event of the year is just around the corner (it takes place on Friday 27th November this year).

If you’re anything like the team here at GLAMOUR, it’s the best Black Friday beauty deals that are taking up the most space in your shopping-obsessed mind. And it’s no surprise that us makeup and skincare aficionados up and down the country shop like mad on Cyber Weekend: it provides the perfect opportunity to stock up on the cabinet staples that you use all year round or to treat yourself to the new beauty products you’ve been hankering after for months – with a lower financial commitment.

Despite that, there’s one brand that opts-out of the event every single year, and that’s DECIEM. This year, the owners of The Ordinary and Niod are closing their website in a bid to encourage sustainability. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get your hands on The Ordinary products at discounted prices. To encourage mindful shopping and more considered purchases, DECIEM is offering a 23% discount across everything on site for the entire month instead (go figure) – and The Ordinary sale is pretty much guaranteed to be the most popular of them all.

If you weren’t already aware, The Ordinary is a science-led and incredibly affordable skincare brand that has soared to unimaginable heights and cemented its popularity since its launch back in September 2016. The products look like they come straight out of a lab and encourage users to experiment with what works for them – mixing products together and creating a totally bespoke skincare routine.

One of the brand’s first ever skin-transforming products was a bottle of £4.90 retinol. While this may feel unextraordinary now, a bottle of pre-The Ordinary retinol would set you back about £25. The item sold out and the brand suddenly became one of the most spoken about in the industry.

Any other products are worth particular note? The brand’s Niacinamide 10%, Zinc 1% currently sells 1 every 3 seconds, while their Serum Foundation racked up an impressive 75,000 person waitlist when it launched in 2017. The Ordinary’s most recent product launch was the unveiling of their 100% Niacinamide Powder which can be mixed with a whole bunch of the brand’s bona fide heroes and non-conflicting ingredients – such as Hyaluronic Acid, Buffer, Natural Moisturizing Factors, and Buffet with Copper Peptides – to tailor make a skincare routine that works for you. Genius.
