Good news for Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon fans (so, all of us?), The Morning Show is soon returning to Apple TV+ – and we’ve just been given our first look at season two!
The hugely successful drama – which focuses on the lives of news anchors hosting a US breakfast show – arrived on the streaming platform in 2019 and received multiple accolades, including an Emmy.
Here’s everything we know about The Morning Show season 2, including the teaser trailer (season 1 spoilers incoming)…
What will The Morning Show season 2 be about?
The first season explored the world of morning news through the lives of two women, Alex Levy (Jen An) and Bradley Jackson (Reese), as they navigate crises both at home and at work. It touched on the #MeToo movement, the power dynamic between men and women in the workplace, and on allegations against a notable TV anchor.
The season ended with Alex and Bradley using their live TV platform to try and take down Fred Micklen (Tom Irwin) for covering up years of misconduct on the show.
While Apple TV haven’t released an exact synopsis, we can expect season 2 to focus on how the workplace changes following sexual misconduct allegations.
Billy Crudup, who plays UBA head of news Cory Ellison, told Entertainment Tonight: “Cory thrives in situations that he has to learn from and operate on his feet. And needless to say, the end of the season gave him a strong indication that things were going to change in pretty unpredictable ways,” he said.
Who’s in it?
The main cast of The Morning Show are returning for season 2, including Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell, plus Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass.
There will be some new faces, too. Joining the main cast will be Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife) as news anchor Laura Peterson, comedian Hasan Minhaj, Ruairi O’Connor (The Spanish Princess) and Greta Lee (Russian Doll).
When’s season 2 out?
We don’t have an exact release date yet, but as Apple TV have just dropped the teaser trailer – which includes previews of other upcoming shows – we can expect a release date soon. We’ll keep you posted.
