The Masked Singer fans are speculating that Queen Bee is, in fact, Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud. The 34-year-old pop star, who found fame with the girl band back in 2002, sent her Instagram followers into a spin online yesterday with her latest social media post. Fans believe it is the biggest clue so far, that she is the masked character on the TV talent show.
Yesterday Nicola, who is about to make her West End debut in a production of City Of Angels, shared a behind-the-scenes video as she prepares for her theatre role.
She captioned the footage, which she shared with her 265,000 followers: “Stamina building @cityofangelsldn.”
The video clip shows her singing Lost and Found, a track from the musical, as a man accompanies her on a keyboard.
Nicola will play Avril/Mallory when the award-winning production moves to the Garrick Theatre in March.
A host of famous faces rushed to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts, praising her vocals.
However, Masked Singer viewers were more distracted by her likeness to Queen Bee.
One user said: “Oooooh it IS you from The Masked Singer. Nice one mate,”
A second agreed and remarked on the same post: “Queen Bee 100%”
A third fan drew comparisons to the singer and TV character’s hand movements, adding: “Definitely queen bee look at the hand movements.”
Another Instagram follower felt that the Queen Bee costume was also a clue.
The user said: “Yes, and I think with the costume she is wearing that the face being a porcelain doll is a clue, too.
“She has a fair complexion and didn’t she have a make-up line called Dainty Doll?”
At the weekend, Queen Bee impressed the celebrity judges, and viewers at home, with her rendition of I’m Alive by Sia.
So far, the character’s identity has remained a secret but Milkshake singer Kelis, 40, was revealed to be Daisy in the most recent episode.
Previous characters to be unmasked included ex-football star Teddy Sheringham, 53, as the Tree and The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins, 44, who was Chameleon.
EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer was unmasked as the butterfly in week one, followed by former Home Secretary Alan Johnson as Pharoah in week two.
Also commenting on Nicola’s Instagram post yesterday was fellow Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh, 38.
The singer wrote: “YESSSSSSSSSS,” while singer Fleur East, 32, added the hands in the air and fire emojis to the post.
Denise Van Outen, 45, who also starred in the West End – playing Roxie Hart in Chicago, said: “Go Nicola.”
“U better SANGGGGGG!,” added The Saturdays star Vanessa White, 30.
