The first two seasons of Amazon’s joyful comedy drama set in the world of late 1950s stand-up took Midge Maisel from housewife to professional comic. The third takes her out on tour, as teased in the first trailer below – scroll down a little to see that.

The first look at season three checks in with Midge’s manager Susie, who’s taking on the men in suits for her client; Abe and Rose, who are struggling with their daughter’s latest on-stage ‘indecent’ exposure; a host of returning characters including the fabulous Jane Lynch, and some excellent outfits.

Midge and Susie discover that life on tour with Shy is glamorous but humbling, and they learn a lesson about show business they’ll never forget. Joel struggles to support Midge while pursuing his own dreams. Abe embraces a new mission and Rose learns she has talents of her own.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 3 cast – Jane Lynch confirmed to return

New to the cast for season three will be This Is Us’ Sterling K. Brown in an as-yet undisclosed role, with Stranger Things’ Cary Elwes and Broadway star Stephanie Hsu, according to Variety.

Star Rachel Brosnahan (Midge Maisel) will of course be joined by Tony Shalhoub as Midge’s father Abe, with Marin Hinkle as her mother Rose. Alex Borstein is back as manager Susie, with Michael Zegan as her ex Joel, and Kevin Pollak and Caroline Aaron as Joel’s parents.

Also spotted in the season three trailer are Jane Lynch as rival stand-up Sophie Lennon, Leroy McClain as singer Shy Baldwin, Matilda Szydagis as Midge’s friend Zelda and Luke Kirby as Lenny Bruce.

Sticking with tradition, season three will arrive on Friday the 6th of December 2019. Add a glass of wine and a blanket, and that’s the perfect winter night in.

If all goes to plan, that won’t be the last we see of Midge Maisel either, as creator Amy Sherman-Palladino revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she has four or five seasons sketched out in total.
