*WARNING: MAJOR THE MANDALORIAN SEASON FINALE SPOILERS AHEAD*

Fans of The Mandalorian have been left furious after a stormtrooper punched Baby Yoda in the season finale of the series.

What did Baby Yoda ever do to deserve this?

The Star Wars spinoff has enjoyed great success, due in part to the character known as The Child, aka Baby Yoda, which has sent the internet wild with his cuteness and spawned the next generation of memes.

But it seems that the stormtroopers are not fans.

And the trooper who punched Baby Yoda in question is portrayed by actor Jason Sudeikis in a special guest appearance, while fellow actor Adam Pally plays his fellow stormtrooper sidekick.

Towards the opening of the season finale, titled Redemption, we saw Baby Yoda had been snatched away by two scout troopers (Jason and Adam), and neither seemed to be too fond of the little guy.

As Jason’s trooper takes a closer look at the baby, he wonders what it is, with trooper two (Adam) saying that is a pet of some sorts.

And before trooper one can even finish his response, Baby Yoda ends up biting his finger, which later results in him being punched.

Fans, as you can imagine, are not happy with this.

Sharing a clip of the moment to Twitter, one fan tweeted: ‘YOOOOOOO, why did they punch Baby Yoda like that.’

Another added: ‘When homebody punched Baby Yoda in the face I about lost it.’

‘Baby Yoda seriously got punched on the Mandalorian?’ another wrote. ‘Bruh… that’s f****d up.’

‘Can’t believe that son of a b***h scout trooper punched Baby Yoda,’ another tweet read. ‘F*** that guy.’

Even actor Jason’sformer  stand up comedy group, The Second City, have jokingly said they ‘do not condone’ his actions.

‘The Second City does not condone the punching of Baby Yoda by alumnus Jason Sudeikis,’ they wrote on Twitter. ‘Please respect our privacy during this difficult time.’

Despite the punch, the final episode of The Mandalorian’s first season has proved to be a hit with fans and critics and has achieved a rare perfect score of 100% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

And the name of our hero – Din Dijarin – was finally revealed as he came face to face with the villainous Moff Gideon on his mission to protect our precious Baby Yoda.

Meanwhile, showrunner Jon Favreau has also confirmed that a second season of the Disney+ will arrive in Autumn 2020.

It looks like we will not be able to escape Baby Yoda anytime soon.

Season one of The Mandalorian is available to stream on Disney+ in the US.
