The Mandalorian Baby Yoda Spoiler Leaked by The Last Jedi Director?

Baby Yoda is the breakout star of The Mandalorian, there is no doubt about that. One of the mysteries as we reach the midpoint of this first live-action Star Wars TV series is, ‘Who is he and what will happen to him by the finale?’ Well, it appears that The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson may have let a little bit of intel slip that should make fans happy on one level, yet irritate them on another.

Many suspect that Baby Yoda, who’s real name and alien species hasn’t been revealed just yet, is a clone of Yoda. Some suspect that The Child, as he is often referred to in the show, will die, be killed, or simply not make it to the Season 1 finale. Why do people suspect this? Because Baby Yoda is nowhere to be seen, and has never been mentioned in the new trilogy, which concludes this December with The Rise of Skywalker.

Well, you can stop holding your breath for an answer, you probably won’t have to watch Baby Yoda perish just yet. At least not anytime in the remaining episodes of The Mandalorian Season 1. The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson visited the set of the popular Disney+ series just one month ago, where he spotted Baby Yoda in a corner (no one puts Baby Yoda in a corner!). At the time, he wasn’t allowed to say anything. Now, he’s allowed to open up about the experience. He reveals this.

“He’s amazing! I visited the set of The Mandalorian a month ago, and I spotted Baby Yoda in the corner and the producer shot me a look as if to say, ‘you can’t say a word!’ I’ve been holding that secret in my heart for forever now. And the memes are amazing. I’m very pro-Baby Yoda.”

The rub here comes in the fact that The Mandalorian Season 1 was wrapped more than a month ago. What Rian Johnson was visiting is suspected to be The Mandalorian Season 2. Which means, unless we’re about to see a Baby Yoda clone army, Baby Yoda is alive and well when the series returns in 2020 with all-new episodes.

Rian Johnson probably didn’t consider this when he made his confession about seeing Baby Yoda on set. Well, at least we won’t have to watch Baby Yoda perish anytime soon. And that’s probably for the best, as fans are deeply in love with the little guy. And who knows, there could be a huge Baby Yoda spoiler yet to come in The Rise of Skywalker.

It has been rumored that Rian Johnson might step in and direct at least one episode of The Mandalorian sometime in the future, an idea both welcomed and feared by various different factions of Star Wars fans, some believing he made one of the best movies in the franchise, others claiming he ruined the brandname forever.

We have no idea what’s in store for Mando and Baby Yoda as we head into the second half of The Mandalorian Season One this coming Thursday. It’s obvious that he won’t be in much danger, and if he is, well, it sure sounds like he’ll survive. The Wrap were the first to drop this Baby Yoda news.
