The latest Glastonbury 2019 weather forecast is looking pretty good

Keep everything crossed.

Glastonbury 2019 is now less than one week away, and the weather forecast as it stands seems to be rather promising.

Taking place June 26 – 30 at Worthy Farm at Pilton in Somerset, Glastonbury will see StormzyThe Cure and The Killers head up a huge lineup that also includes the likes of Liam GallagherJanet JacksonGeorge EzraMiley Cyrus and Tame Impala, to name but a few.

The BBC reports that there will be thundery showers in the days leading up to the festival, before things clear up for the event itself. They claim that early arrivals on Wednesday 26 June will be welcomed by a day of mild conditions and sunny intervals with temperatures reaching a high of 26°.

They then predict that Thursday and Friday will see similar mild weather and clearing skies with temperatures peaking at 26° and 27° respectively – remaining pleasant well into the evening.  The Beeb say that it looks set to stay dry and warm throughout the rest of the weekend, with temperatures at 24° on Saturday and 21° on the closing Sunday.

Accuweather‘s outlook is promising too. They report that Wednesday will see periods of sunshine and temperatures around 28° – staying like that but with more humid conditions and clearer skies on Thursday. Temperatures will then apparently take a slight dip to 23° on Friday while remaining mostly sunny, before hitting  20° on Saturday and 19° on Sunday – staying dry throughout.

Meanwhile, the Met Office predict “settled and warm weather” in that area throughout Glasto weekend, with mild and dry conditions on the days leading up to the festival and the Wednesday enjoying temperatures of 25°C, before sunny skies and temperatures peaking at 24°C on Thursday. The rest of Glastonbury weekend is yet to be forecast.

“Towards the south and southeast it will most likely stay drier, and warm at times, but there is the risk of some thundery showers spreading in from the south,” they said. “There are signs that high pressure may become more dominant by late-June, bringing a chance of settled and warm weather.”

Earlier this year, they offered a hopeful forecast for the UK this summer – one that includes dry and warmer than average temperatures.

The Met Office’s Alex Deakin said: “The longer range, three month outlook is suggesting that higher pressure is more likely than lower pressure, and higher temperatures are more likely than lower temperatures.

“A trend towards some finer weather as we go into early summer, but of course, any individual spell of hot weather can’t be forecast at that kind of range. The trend does look dryer than average.”

This year the UK has seen a colder than average spring, as it did last year before experiencing a scorching summer, so Deakin addressed the observation that this could happen again in 2019.

“If you look at last year, a colder than average spring did bring a warmer than average summer, but there is no set pattern to that at all,” he said.
