The Last Kingdom season five is due to air on Netflix soon and it is based on books nine and 10 of The Saxon Stories. Viewers are desperate for protagonist Uhtred (played by Alexander Dreymon) to fulfil his destiny and claim back Bebbanburg. He could be assisted by an unexpected newcomer – his son who hasn’t been seen since season three.
Could Uhtred’s youngest son star in The Last Kingdom season 5?
Carnival Films has been providing some updates as to what fans can expect from the final season.
Via the show’s Instagram account, the creators of the series have introduced a whole host of new characters.
However, they could be keeping some secrets back in order to give the audience a surprise.
Fans are still waiting to find out what became of Uhtred’s third child, who was born at the start of season three.
The child’s mother was Gisela (Peri Baumeister), but he was not mentioned or seen again after his birth.

Fans took to Reddit to discuss what they would like to see happen in the upcoming episodes.
Atriley478 said: “I just want to see Uhtred’s youngest son. Any acknowledgement of his existence at all will suffice.
“Bc we have heard nothing abt him since he was born.” [Sic]
Ok_scale_4211 added: “This is something I am also really curious about, because when they introduce him, they have to come with an interesting storyline about his absence.”
Atriley478 responded: “Most we know from the show is that Uhtred despises him.
“Bc I remember him saying as much in one of the recaps. Seems he hates him for Gisela’s death.
“Id like to see them form a relationship. But I just dnt know if there is room for it in this season.
“Maybe the movie? Since the show has departed so much from the books, anything can happen. (Which makes it exciting for me).” [Sic]
Ok_Scale_4211 continued: “If they do it this season, I think it would be more interesting because he can help retake Bebbanburg and he is still a bit younger after he and Uthred have made up.
“If they do it in the movie, it would seem a bit out of place to me because they don’t have a goal together like Bebbanburg anymore.

“But you are right about how full this season probably already is, so we’ll see.
“Maybe it will be a big surprise this season and even more exciting!” [Sic]
There is a chance Uhtred’s missing son could be introduced as the ultimate plot twist in the final season.
Fans are hoping Uhtred will claim back his homeland, bringing his mission to a satisfying end.
Just because his son was not in the fourth season, there is still scope for him to return.
The show’s executive producer, Nigel Marchant, explained the third son would have been “one character too many” for season four.
He told Radio Times: “We don’t like to deviate from the books, we like to keep the characters and the essence there.
“But sometimes it just doesn’t work. But that’s not to say that we couldn’t see them in the future.”
From this, it seems plenty of surprises are in store for the explosive final season.
