The Irishman leads with 14 nominations including Best Picture for 25th annual Critics' Choice Awards


Martin Scorsese’s latest masterpiece leads the way for the most nominations at the 25th annual Critics’ Choice Awards.

The Irishman — which stars Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci — nabbed 14 nominations, with winners set to be announced during the live broadcast on The CW Television Network on Sunday, Jan. 12.

Those noms include: Best Picture, Robert De Niro for Best Actor, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci for Best Supporting Actor, Martin Scorsese for Best Director, Best Acting Ensemble, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Hair and Makeup, Best Visual Effects and Best Score.

Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood also earned high praises with 12 nominations.

While Leonardo DiCaprio earned a nod for Best Actor in the ’70s-era flick, his co-star, Brad Pitt, was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. 

Following closely behind were Little Women with nine nods; 1917 and Marriage Story each earned eight nominations.

Jojo Rabbit, Joker and Parasite each scored a total of seven nominations from the committee.

Topping the list of nominated series’ is When They See Us with a total of six nods, including Best Limited Series, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor in A Limited Series or Movie Made for Television.

When They See Us is based on the Central Park Five who spent years fighting — and ultimately reaching a settlement against the city of New York for wrongful convictions — surrounding the events of April 19, 1989. 

The awards are voted by members of the Critics Choice Association, which consists of television, radio and online critics and journalists who cover film and television.
