The House Of The Dead is next Sega old school revival

You cannot kill what does not live

The team behind the Panzer Dragoon remakes will be bringing Sega’s classic zombie-themed lightgun game back from the dead.

Another Saturn-era Sega franchise is being revived for modern consoles, although once again it’s not Sega themselves that’s making them.

Sega has been unusually proactive about its back catalogue recently, with games like Sonic Mania, Streets Of Rage 4, and the Panzer Dragoon remake. Although in each case it’s left it to someone else to develop the games.

That’s going to be the case again with The House Of The Dead, which will be handled by Polish Forever Entertainment, who is overseeing the Panzer Dragoon remakes.

The source for the news is in Polish, so we’re wary of how accurately terms like ‘remake’ and ‘reboot’ are being translated but apparently the first two games are the ones being brought back, which is the same approach taken with Panzer Dragoon.

That suggests that The House Of The Dead will follow a similar path, although it’s unknown if it’ll be a Switch exclusive like Panzer Dragoon.

The House Of The Dead compilation is due out next year but it does seem an odd choice of franchise to revive since it’s a lightgun game and we doubt anyone’s going to release any new hardware just for that.

There are plenty of other more suitable games from around that period – from NiGHTS to Jet Set Radio – but for whatever reason The House Of The Dead is the one they’re going with.
