Reddit user isabelmustdie said: “I kind of hope she dies honestly. There’s no logical way for her to go back to Gilead as a handmaid, so she either goes in hiding or is killed.”
Adding credentials to this theory, other fans have pointed to the original ending of Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, in which it is kept ambiguous whether June (or Offred) survives her oppressive ordeal as a handmaid.
