Sandi Toksvig has revealed there’s a secret kitchen on The Great British Bake Off that no one knows about.

Speaking to the Loose Women panel, the TV presenter admitted that despite being a judge on the popular baking show, she actually doesn’t like cake that much.

‘I don’t like cake, I love cheese,’ she told the hosts.

‘The producer would often keep me going with cheese, I am like a mouse on set.

‘There’s a whole kitchen you don’t even see on the show where they keep my cheese.’

The comedienne went on to admit that before taking her role on the show, she had never heard of the Bake Off.

She added: ‘I rang my daughter up to tell her about it and she said to me “what is wrong with you mum?” as I didn’t know what it was and she said I should definitely do it.’

During this series of Bake Off Sandi also joined Prue Leith, Noel Fielding and Paul Hollywood on the judging panel.

Who won the show in 2019?

David Atherton won the Great British Bake Off 2019, beating Steph Blackwell and Alice Fevronia in a nailbiting final.

Steph, Alice and David battled it out in a tense final episode, which saw the trio put through their paces.

The bakers were tasked with making a chocolate cake as their signature bake, on top of mastering the perfect souffle for the technical challenge.

For their last ever showstopper, David, Steph, and Alice were asked to create an edible illusion using only cake, sweet bread, and biscuits.

Although another year of Bake Off is over, there is good news as it will be returning in 2020 for an 11th season.

Not much has been revealed except the fact that producers have opened online applications for hopeful bakers.

The Great British Bake Off is available for catch-up on 4OD.
