The Grand Tour season 3: Richard Hammond steps away from show for new series

The Grand Tour season three finished on an enormous high, as Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May concluded their latest collection of episodes with big cars and big challenges.

And although it looks like the trio are already hard at work on a fourth season of the Amazon Prime Video hit show, Richard has revealed he is taking on a brand new challenge.

Discovery Channel UK today posted a video of Richard wearing a hard hart and high-vis jacket, standing in front of a tanker.

In the video he announced: “Hi I’m Richard Hammond and I’ve got some big news about my new television series!

“I’m going to be travelling the globe, taking you behind the scenes at some of the world’s biggest feats of engineering.

“From the world’s longest underground railway tunnel, to a container ship the size of four football pitches.”

With an excited smile on his face, he concluded: “It’s going to be massively fun and exciting. It’s going to be big!”

The Discovery Channel UK tweet captioned the video with the name of the show which read: “In need of an adventure? Welcome to #BIG, a brand new super-sized series with @RichardHammond!”

Some fans, however, began pointing out the irony of the name of Richard’s new show, as his co-stars often poke fun at his height.

He later retweeted the video, adding: “Yes, I can appreciate the irony in Richard Hammond’s Big!”

Which prompted one fan to say: “Now @JeremyClarkson needs a series called ‘Small’.”

Richard’s announcement follows that of James’ similar news.

It was recently revealed James will be fronting a new show called: Our Man in… Japan.

The six-part series will show off James venturing to Japan to explore its delicacies and nuances.

Whilst departing for Japan at Heathrow, James said: “Japan is the most amazing place I’ve ever visited.

“Everything about it is a surprise: a boiled sweet, a bullet train, an unexpected ancient temple, and the challenge of eating a single edamame bean with chopsticks.

“It’s a Class A stimulant for all the senses, and an etiquette minefield for the unwary.

“I intend to immerse myself in it completely, in the pursuit of enlightenment and life balance. And I bet the noodles will be fantastic.”

Does this mean Jeremy will also be looking at joining a new show?

The Grand Tour season three is available on Amazon Prime Video now.
