The Grammys you didn't see – from wild after parties and seat fillers to luxury goodie bags

The Grammys is one of the most glamorous nights in the showbiz calendar, with all the biggest names from music competing to win one of the coveted awards.

And while we watch dozens of celebs strut down the red carpet looking preened to perfection before watching them emotionally accept their gongs, there’s a side to the Grammys that you don’t see.

Demi Lovato took to her Instagram stories to film herself getting her makeup done as she nervously prepared for her big comeback performance.

The singer hadn’t had a live show for almost two years after her drug overdose in 2018.

Lizzo did some very low key prep for her big gig, showing herself getting a light top up of her makeup before strutting out of her house in a casual dress and trainers.

As the singers put on their best ‘I’m happy for you’ faces when they don’t win and clap until their hands are sore during performances, the ceremony is actually a gruelling night.

It goes on for almost four hours and the only breaks the non-famous attendees get are commercial breaks of just a few minutes, meaning they have to run to the bathroom and rush back to their seats before the show gets going again.

This is why big awards dos like the Grammys have seat fillers, who sit in a celeb’s chair while they’re taking a breather.

They could be headed to the bar or gone for a bathroom break but their chair needs to be filled because TV cameras need the venue to look full.

Seat fillers aren’t paid but get to mingle with A-listers and often get a front row seat to some of the most memorable performances in music history.

Those watching the show live for the first time might be surprised to learn that the ceremony is set up mostly for the viewers at home.

According to Buzzfeed , sometimes performers won’t even face the live audience so they can get a better angle for the TV cameras.

Even if the artists don’t take home an award, they will still get the perk of a seriously plush Grammys goodie bag.

This year’s jam packed gift bag is said cost around $30,000 (around £23,000), and includes a week-long spa stay and a handheld electric back massager.

Also among the items sure to make the ceremony is a must-see event are designer puffer jackets, sunglasses, false eyelashes and CoverGirl make-up.

One of the flashiest items in the gift bag will be the Light Phone, which isn’t even on the market until March and is expected to retail about $350.00 (about £270.00).

And when the night as over, the stars can let their hair down at the wild after parties.

Chrissy Teigen shared a video of herself dancing with her husband John Legend to Ariana Grande’s NASA as they got ready for their night out.

She’d changed into a black minidress and was in the mood to celebrate after John won his 11th Grammy.

After winning a whopping five awards, including for album of the year, Billie Eilish decided to party with her friends.

Ariana opted to skip the after parties following her stunning Thank U, Next medley.

Instead she relaxed at home in her pyjamas — while still wearing all her makeup and seriously flashy jewelery, of course.
