The Game Awards 2019: Fans looking for GTA 6, Zelda surprises as Fortnite news confirmed

GTA 6 fans are hungry for news and are hoping that The Game Awards 2019 might include some surprise news.

In fact, gamers looking for news on a bunch of future titles have their fingers crossed that something might appear at the TGAs.

While Link’s next adventure on the Nintendo Switch has been confirmed, Rockstar Games has yet to announce anything regarding the next Grand Theft Auto game.

And with GTA Online still thriving, it’s hard to guess when news regarding GTA 6 will be unveiled by the famous studio.

The hope is that some big names will be among the games being revealed during The Game Awards this week.

THE GAME AWARDS 2019 START TIME AND DATE

The Game Awards is an annual show headlined by different presenters and offering awards to the year’s biggest and best titles.

The Game Awards has a start date scheduled for Thursday, December 12, 2019, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The big problem for fans in the UK is that is being held at 5:30pm on the west coast of the United States.

And that means things won’t be kicking off in the UK until around 1:30am, GMT.

The good news is that The Game Awards is easy to watch and streams for it can be found on platforms like YouTube.

Fans can vote alongside media outlets on what games they think should be awarded the top gongs, although voting will close soon.

We also know that there is going to be a bunch of announcements made during The Game Awards.

TGA founder Geoff Keighley confirmed the news earlier this month, even ruling out a few rumours along the way.

He told fans online: “We have a bunch of brand new games being announced at the show — I think there are around 10 new games/projects being revealed if you want to count the things that no one has heard about yet.

“As always the Internet has a lot of really bad information out there about what you think is at the show…but it sure is fun to read.”

Adding: “There are no plans (never were) to do anything with Resident Evil 3 at the show. A lot of these “leaks” are completely wrong. Nothing about our show has leaked as of this writing.”

And there have been plenty of rumours linking big games to the show, being one of the last events before we wrap up 2019.

One rumour connected a GTA 6 announcement to the show, which would be a surprising turnaround.

It would come on the same day as a new GTA Online was released and would go against Rockstar’s recent strategy of sharing news via social media.

But it appears this recent rumour has been debunked, as it also spoke about Resident Evil 3 being unveiled during the TGAs.

There’s a chance that Rockstar Games will share a trailer for its latest GTA 5 Online project but that wouldn’t provide much in the way of news.

It has also been noted that Rockstar Games is part of The Game Awards advisory board, a role they’ve had for a number of years.

What we do know is that Epic Games will be making a Fortnite Battle Royale announcement during The Game Awards.

A message from Epic reveals: “Tune in Dec 12 at 8:30 PM ET to see if Fortnite takes home an award at The Game Awards

“We’ll be making a special announcement during the show so don’t miss it.”

What this announcement will include is hard to say, with nearly anything possible when it comes to Fortnite.

Fans are long overdue news regarding Fortnite Save the World going free-to-play, but there are other possibilities too.
