The Dawning returning to Destiny 2 for Christmas season

Destiny 2’s own take on the Christmas season is coming back and players can earn the rewards that they missed last year.

After winning Best Community Support at the Game Awards, Bungie has announced a new event for Destiny 2 that’s coming in time for the holiday season, The Dawning, which will run from 17 December to 14 January.

In-universe, the Dawning is a Christmas-like occasion for the Guardians and was held last year as well, where players received an oven from supporting character Eva Levante, which they used to bake cookies to give to people and earn rewards.

This is despite Bungie having only just released the Season of Dawn event as well, meaning dedicated players are going to be kept extra busy over the next month.

The Dawning very much looks like the same as last year, but the game will be offering new rewards, obviously, like a winter-themed ship and sparrow, and a Cold Front submachine gun.

In addition, the Eververse store will be stocked with themed items, like emotes and armour ornaments, which can be bought with the in-game currencies, silver and bright dust.

What’s possibly most exciting, though, is that some of 2018’s Dawning items can be obtained as well, which is perfect for players who may have missed them last time or only started playing Destiny 2 this year. However, it hasn’t been confirmed exactly which of these items will be brought back.

There doesn’t seem to be any unique activity taking place either, possibly because of the aforementioned Season of Dawn event already offering a lot, but everything the Dawning offers will be free to all players.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
