Netflix has announced The Crown season three is going to be premiering at some point in 2019, towards the latter half of the year. The streaming giant has not yet shared a release date saying the drama will be available after July 1, 2019. Season three will feature a totally revamped cast who will be taking over the roles of the Royal Family.
Olivia Colman will be leading the cast as Queen Elizabeth II, while The Durrells star Josh O’Connor has been confirmed as a young Prince Charles.
Writer and actress Emerald Fennell will be taking on the role of a young Camilla Parker Bowles and had been spotted filming scenes.
Rising star Emma Corrin was most recently cast as a young Princess Diana and is expected to be appearing in season four rather than the upcoming run of The Crown.
The casting of Princess Diana is likely to lead many viewers to wonder about Prince Charles’ relationship with Camilla. Here’s a brief timeline of the romance.

What happened between Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles?
Prince Charles and the then-Camilla Shand are first thought to have met at a polo match in Windsor Great Park in 1970.
Both were aged just 23 at the time and they started dating soon after meeting at the sports event.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, royal historian Hugo Vickers said of the relationship: “She used to him quite a lot down at Broadlands.”
Vickers said it was thought that Camilla even joked with the prince during their first encounter, telling him her great-grandmother was mistress to Charles’ great-great-grandfather Edward VII.
However, the blossoming romance was cut short when Prince Charles went off to join the navy and Camilla reconnected with her former beau Andrew Parker Bowles.
Camilla and Andrew got married in 1973 at a ceremony at the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks while the prince was thousands of miles away at sea.
According to Vickers, Prince Charles “was very depressed” by the news his former girlfriend had got married.
The author went on to say: “But the thing about Andrew Parker Bowles was that he was a very good-looking cavalry officer and she was in love with him anyway.”
Camilla and Andrew went on to have two children Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes, but the union did not last with the couple getting divorced in 1995.
Meanwhile, Charles married Diana Spencer in 1981 with the couple having Princes William and Harry together.
Their relationship sadly broke down due to infidelity on both sides and much unhappiness. The couple got divorced in 1996, a year after Camilla’s split from her husband.
Following their marriage breakdown, Princess Diana gave an interview with BBC Panorama’s Martin Bashir in which she spoke about her ex-husband’s infidelity.
When asked if Camilla was a factor in the end of her relationship, Princess Diana said: “Well, there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded.”
Princess Diana tragically died in a car accident in Paris in 1997.
In tapes subsequently released featuring the princess speaking about her life, Diana admitted she’d confronted Camilla about the affair with her husband.
On one tape the princess recounted that she told Camilla: “I know what’s going on between you and Charles and I just want you to know that.”
Princes Charles and Camilla made their first public appearance together in 1999 in what was dubbed “Operation Ritz” after the pair were seen at Ritz Hotel.
They finally got married in 2005, nearly three decades after they first briefly dated in the Seventies.
Reflecting on the relationship, Vickers said: “You could make a strong point to say that the relationship between Charles and Camilla’s been a very strong one because they were prised apart and were with other people and kept going back together again – and look at them now.”
The historian, who has previously been critical of The Crown and its depiction of historical events, said was unsure how the romance would be portrayed on screen.
However, he admitted he would be watching season three to see how the programme-makers conveyed the relationship, among other historical events.
