The Circle returned to our TV screens this evening for the grand finale.
Players Woody, Tim, Georgina, Paddy and catfish “Sammie” all finally got to meet each other face to face after speaking to each other via social media for weeks.
James, 26, adopted the persona of Sammie, a single mother, and fooled the other contestants all the way to the final.
In tonight’s show, all five players met for a final meal and got to know the person behind the screen.
Woody, Tim, Georgina and Paddy were all gobsmacked that Sammie was actually recruitment consultant James.
James explained the reason behind his alter-ego.
He told his fellow players that he’d cried over his deceit but fans took to their keyboards to brand “Sammie” a liar.
One said: “Sammie, you’re a liar.”
Another added: “Well hasn’t Sammie/James turned into a compulsive liar.”
A third tweeted: “James is doing this for his family but is just a liar.”
A fourth said: “Sammie is the biggest liar. He didn’t cry.”
Emma Willis returned to presenting duties this evening to bring series two to a close.
There is a £700,000 a £300,000 prize up for grabs.
The player with the most votes from their fellow players will scoop £700k and the winner of the public vote will walk away with £300k.
The winner of The Circle will be announced this evening on Channel 4.
