The Circle players crowned Paddy Smyth their 2019 winner on Friday night to a bit of a divisive reaction from the viewers at home.

The Irish social media star took home the £70,000 prize money decided by the other players of the game after being voted the most popular contender among his peers.

But the decision came with a fair bit of backlash, with Tim taking home the £30,000 audience-decided prize pot as some viewers raged online he wasn’t a ‘worthy winner’.

Well…Paddy says bring it on, because he doesn’t care all that much if people aren’t happy with it.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, he told us: ‘I mean, Beyonce divides opinion, so if she can do it I can do it! You know what I mean? If they’re talking about me, that’s good enough!’

He then added that he felt his presence on the show was important for those with disabilities, and what they’re able to achieve after being underrepresented on reality shows in the past.

‘I know that in some ways I’ve divided opinion, but at least I went in there and I was myself,’ the resident Circle champion told us.

‘I hope that I’ve given a voice maybe to that disabled child that doesn’t think they’re going to be somebody or their parents that think that their disabled child isn’t going to have a normal life.’

As for what he’s about to do with the money? He’s hoping to invest in pimping out his ‘glam sticks’.

‘Obviously it’s not even been 24 hours since I got it, but I am planning on bedazzling my crutches in some way, my glam sticks,’ Paddy revealed. ‘Getting a new pair and calling them my glam pair, like for if I go to the Oscars or some kind of awards show.

‘I’m going for high hopes here and setting my sights high!’

‘I’m going to give some money to my mum, my dad passed away this year and I just want to make sure she’s OK,’ the star continued.’Then I’m going to have a party with my friends.

Then I’ll decide what I want to do, but to take a moment to relax and actually enjoy the moment that I’ve done this.

‘I’m going to really try and enjoy this moment.’

The Circle is available now on catch-up on Channel 4 OD.
