The message was followed by a broken heart emoji.

A follower replied to Paul’s message satating that it feels like Barry is still with us, to which the TV star responded: ‘So do I mate. He looked so well and enjoying life.’

Another fan responded: ‘One of the nicest people I’ve met. Made my sister laugh when we was younger as she didnt want her photo taken with Paul and Barry and she soon changed her mind when you both made her laugh.’

One wrote: ‘The most iconic duo to ever exist. You both made my childhood extremely special, sharing laughs with my parents watching Chucklevision.’

Chucklevision was a BBC children’s programme that ran for 21 seasons, from 1987 to 2009.

It won the hearts of multiple generations of children and in August 2019, was voted the best CBBC show of all time by Radio Times readers.

The pair continued to appear as their on-screen personalities far past the show’s end on stage. They were often seen together in pantomimes too, with their last appearance being in 2018, as part of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
