The Chase: ‘You weren’t concentrating’ Mark Labbett slams contestant for unforgivable move

The Chase star Mark Labbett is known for his ruthless quizzing style on the ITV show.

Today’s episode was no different as he wiped out two contestants without wasting any time.

The first player, Paul, is a property developer but he didn’t last all too long on The Chase.

It seemed his head wasn’t really in the game as he kept talking while he was supposed to be answering the questions.

What’s more, right at the end of his round, he had to get the question right, so it appeared now was the time to focus.

Host Bradley Walsh asked: “Edmund and Eustace were two of the humans to visit what fictional land?”

The answers were “Narnia”, “Oz” and “Lilliput”, however, Paul was too busy elsewhere to input his choice.

As a result, it was down to fate to see whether Mark would answer it correctly.

Of course, it wasn’t in doubt the Beast would know “Narnia” was the right answer.

As a result, Paul was eliminated, but it wasn’t before Mark offered some words of advice.

Mark said: “Sadly, what cost you there was… I’ve rarely seen a contestant so unfocused.

“You were talking when you should have been concentrating, I’m afraid, and it’s cost you.”

Paul looked absolutely gutted to be out and Bradley shared his sentiments, adding: “I don’t like to see my first contestant go out.

“However, you have been caught and for you, The Chase is over.”

What’s more, viewers were furious to see Paul mess up on something so little, with many posting their feelings on Twitter.

One said: “ Paul only has himself to blame for being caught by mark because he was just so arrogant and cocky. #TheChase.”

Another raged: “#TheChase Paul just couldn’t keep his trap shut!”

I can’t believe he ran out of time!!! That was such an easy question! Beast was right he wasn’t focused,” added a third.

Yesterday on The Chase, viewers were furious as Bradley Walsh refused a crucial answer.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
