The Chase fans slam 'worst contestants ever' as Jenny Ryan crushes team's dreams

The Chase returned to our screens this afternoon for another throwback instalment of the ITV quiz show.

Bradley Walsh welcomed four contestants to the show today for the final episode of the week.

The 60-year-old presenter was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.

Jenny “The Vixen” Ryan was in the hot seat today trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.

Zoe, Sam, Elizabeth and Ronan took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Vixen in an intense round of general knowledge questions.

Sam failed to make it through to the final round leaving the three other players to take on The Vixen.

He bagged a strong £7,000 in the cash builder round but he was quickly knocked out in the head-to-head by Chaser Jenny.

Ronan, Elizabeth and Zoe had only racked up a £6,000 prize fund during their stint on the ITV quiz show.

To make matters worse, the team were then thrashed by The Vixen with 28 seconds to spare in the final chase and viewers were not impressed.

Host Bradley commiserated the trio by saying they “played really well”, but fans at home were less than sympathetic.

ITV viewers rushed to their keyboards to offer their verdict on today’s team of contestants.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Not a good team today.”

Another viewer added: “Well that was a shambles.”

A third moaned: “Rubbish team once again.”

A fourth agreed: “Christ this team is thick as s**t.”

The trio were beaten in the final chase with nearly half a minute still left on the clock.

Jenny smashed the questions despite three opportunities for push backs.

Bradley commiserated the team, telling them: “You played really well.”

The Vixen added: “They were tough questions and 18 on any score was really good.

“You should be really chuffed.”

Perhaps they would have done a better job if contestant Sam had managed to make it through to the final chase too?

It would certainly have bumped up the prize fund…

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
