The Chainsmokers are set to executive produce a new music drama series.
Demo will follow a young pop songwriter in Los Angeles, and comes alongside the pair’s upcoming feature film Paris.
The new show is set to come to Disney-owned cable channel Freeform, and will, according to The Hollywood Reporter, follow “a 20-something musician who dares to leave behind her struggling indie rock band and working-class family to take a shot at writing pop songs in Los Angeles.
“Though at first she’s eager to shed her past, she soon discovers that the best songs tell the deepest truths — if only she can find the strength to tell hers.”
The Chainsmokers will executive producer the series with their production company Kick The Habit, details of which was revealed when they announced the release of Paris last year, a film that centres around the band’s song of the same name.
Announcing their foray into film and television at the time, Chainsmokers members Drew Taggart and Alex Pall said: “We are beyond thrilled to have launched Kick The Habit Productions as we continue to bridge the gap between our overall artistic vision, the entertainment industry as a whole and our fans.
“The age of being only a musician is over and we’re excited to go all-in on this venture to curate, produce and create meaningful projects.”
The Chainsmokers released their latest album ‘Sick Boy’ at the end of 2018. A new LP called ‘World War Joy’ is due on December 6.
