The Boys on Amazon season 2: Will there be another series?

The Boys on Amazon Prime was developed by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen as a new take on the superhero genre. The dark and shocking series follows a group of vigilantes known as The Boys who unite to take down the corrupt heroes known as The Seven. The first season of the show is released on Amazon Prime Video today (July 26) but fans are already keen to know – will there be another series of The Boys? Here’s what we know so far as well as exclusive insight from actor Chase Crawford.

Will there be another season of The Boys on Amazon?

Yes, The Boys was given an early renewal on July 19 by Amazon Prime ahead of its premiere.

The news was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con panel for the show.

The series is also reported to begin filming back in Toronto this summer.

WHO IS IN THE CAST OF THE BOYS?

Who will be in the cast of The Boys 2?

The cast will depend on the story and if there are any major deaths.

If there aren’t the main cast is expected to be returning with Jack Quaid starring as Hughie, Karl Urban as Billy Butcher and Elisabeth Shue as Madelyn Stillwell.

The Comic Con panel revealed that actor Aya Cash will be a new addition to the series starring as Stormfront.

Viewers will recognise Cash for her role as Gretchen Cutler in You’re the Worst and most recently as Joan Simon in Fosse/Verdon.

Speaking ahead of the renewal, The Deep actor Chase Crawford exclusively told Express.co.uk how excited he was about another season.

He said: “We’d love to get the band back together – we love each other so much and the experience was just a dream.

“It really was a dream to work with everyone and it was so collaborative and free.

“They let us do sort of what wanted with the characters and improv for me and it was a special experience – it really was.”

What will happen in The Boys season 2?

As the first series of the show is only released today (July 26), there is no official news about what will happen in the second series.

Crawford kept tight-lipped on the direction that a potential season two could take as the first series had not yet been released.

He did reveal that by the end of the first series, the show had begun to deviate from the comics and become it’s own entity.

Crawford explained: “The show is good – it becomes its own thing by the end.

“They’re really writing it – it has the same tone and all the same characters and the same storylines but they did a good job of keeping it true to the source material.”

The news that Cash will be playing a character called Stormfront could reveal that the show will continue to draw on parts of its source material.

In the comics, Stormfront is a male superhero who is a reincarnated Viking who is part of the superhero team Payback.

The Payback team are all rejects from The Seven and they face up against The Boys with deathly consequences in the books.

Where the series decides to go with this character and the series has a whole remains to be seen.

Express.co.uk will update this article as soon as more information about the series is released.

All eight episodes of The Boys are released on Amazon Prime today (Friday, July 26).
