The biggest new video games releasing the week of 7/18/22 • AIPT – AIPT

The summer of gaming is in full swing! The year started off fantastically, with major releases like Pokémon Legends: Arceus to Horizon Forbidden West to Elden Ring all releasing in early 2022, and that fantastic trend looks to continue through the summer months with bombastic Triple A games and indie darlings releasing left and right.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Endling: Extinction is Forever (7/19)

This week is a big one for games starring animals as protagonists. Endling: Extinction is Forever has you take control of the last mother fox on Earth as she attempts to feed, find shelter for, and protect her cubs in a world destroyed by the harmful nature of the human race. The eco-conscious adventure is a side-scroller survival game where one of your top goals is to avoid becoming prey to man and other predators out in the wild.

Hazel Sky (7/20)

Coffee Addict Studio releases Hazel Sky this week. You’ll play as Shane, a heartfelt engineer sent to a remote island where he must pass “the trials” to return to his home as an engineer or be banished. Gameplay consists of repairing and building planes, platforming through the trails, playing guitar, exploring an underwater city, and flying.

Stray (7/19)

Cat adventure game Stray climbs its way onto PC and PlayStation consoles tomorrow. Stray finds a lost cat in an underground cyberpunk city with only a robot drone as its companion. You’ll meet a colorful cast of robots as the unnamed cat and B-12, the drone, search for a way back to the outside world. For more on Stray, check out my review, where I describe it as “some of the most fun gaming I’ve had this year – and I don’t even like cats!”
