The Big Bang Theory’s Sheldon was told of his endgame with Amy five years before series finale

Sheldon Cooper has always been stubborn on the Big Bang Theory, and if he’d just listened to Penny for once, he could’ve discovered how to get his happy ending five years before he actually got there.

In The Anything Can Happen Recurrence, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) tries to convince Sheldon (Jim Parsons) to loosen up, and in a day where he allows anything to happen, she takes him to see a psychic.

Obviously, the whole trip goes down like a lead balloon, and he gets off to a horrific start by telling the clairvoyant Ms Davora: ‘No insult intended, but you’re a fraud, your profession is a swindle and your livelihood is dependent on the gullibility of stupid people. Again. No offence.’

Say how you really feel there, bud.

However, if he’d actually relied a little more on faith and a little more on cold, hard facts, the psychic revealed his future pretty much perfectly, and told him to commit to Amy Farrah-Fowler (Mayim Bialik), his then girlfriend he kept at an arm’s length.

She told him: ‘Your spirit guides are telling me there’s a woman in your life you’re having problems with. A specific woman you’re in a romantic relationship with.

‘Does she work in a similar field to you? They’re telling me you’re having difficulty being close to her. He should give himself to this relationship. Once he does, all his other pursuits will come into focus.’

She later asserted that everything will fall into place personally and professionally…once he commits to her.

Panicking, he declared the whole thing malarkey – because neuro-biologist and a theoretical physicist are totally different – and stormed off.

But if he’d paid attention, the psychic was absolutely right, and once he dedicated himself to Amy and they got married, they worked together as well.

Ultimately their mutual efforts and research in different fields afforded Sheldon his ultimate dream – The Nobel prize he was always fighting for.

A whole five years after his Anything Can Happen visit to the psychic.

Who was really causing all the malarkey now, Sheldon?

As one fan posted the eagle-eyed spot on Reddit, another declared it to be: ‘Better writing here than in the 8th season of Game Of Thrones.’

Considering the Big Bang Theory’s finale was praised for being near perfect, we’d say they had a point.

The Big Bang Theory airs on E4 in the UK and is available to stream on Netflix.
