The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki has said happy birthday to guest star Bob Newhart, who recently turned 91.
Johnny, 45, took to Instagram to share a snap alongside the actor, who played Arthur Jeffries – aka Professor Proton – in the sitcom, to wish him well following his special day.
He wrote: ‘Happy birthday to a massive talent, a special influence to me, an “all around nice guy”, and fellow Chicago boy, Bob Newhart.
‘@bobnehartofficial Have a great one, my friend.’
Bob first appeared as Arthur Jeffries in the sixth season of The Big Bang Theory. He also made appearances in the ninth, eleventh and twelfth seasons respectively.
Arthur Jeffries was known in the show to play the titular character of Professor Proton, who starred in a fictional in-universe science show that Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny) watched as children.
The character has also made a guest appearance in the prequel spinoff series Young Sheldon, which focuses on a young version of the titular character, living with his family in Texas and going off to high school.
Professor Proton proved to be popular with critics and viewers, and Bob also won his first Emmy Award for his role in 2013.
It comes after Johnny defended his co-star Kaley Cuoco after she was criticised for wearing a face mask while working out.
The actress had shared a clip to social media which saw her exercising with a skipping rope at the gym, but unfortunately, was left with a trail of negative comments from some, who questioned why she was wearing a face covering.
However, Johnny later took to the comments to support Kaley, and it seems he’s pretty impressed by her workout skills either way.
He wrote: ‘Okay. I’m actually impressed by this one.’
While fellow co-star Kunal Nayyar, 39, added: ’20 minutes??? That’s why you have abs.’
The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Netflix.
