The Big Bang Theory star Kate Micucci has landed a role in DC TV series Supergirl.

Kate, who played Pasadena’s Comic Center regular Lucy in the long-running comedy series, will appear in the first episode of Supergirl’s fifth season as ‘a character working in a museum’.

‘She’s amazing and so sparkly and hysterical,’ Supergirl executive producer Jessica Queller said of Kate on set, telling TVLine that it was ‘really exciting’ to have the 39-year-old actress around.

In The Big Bang Theory, Kate was a recurring guest star who met Raj, played by Kunal Nayyar, at a party at the comic-book store held for singles on Valentine’s Day.

The pair had a rocky romance though, and Lucy eventually broke up with Raj via email.

It’s three months since The Big Bang Theory ended with Raj casually catching up with Buffy The Vampire Slayer Sarah Michelle Gellar, and almost two months since we heard from the man behind the legend, Kunal.

Back in June, the 38-year-old broke fans’ hearts when he confirmed he was taking a well-earned hiatus from the spotlight, abandoning social media altogether, forcing us to catch our Kunal fix through re-runs of TBBT.

During his sabbatical, Kunal shared a picture of himself gazing out across the French coastline as he travelled the four corners of the globe, telling his Instagram followers: ‘Bon Jour! from the South of ??.

‘As I start my holiday I will be taking a break from social media for a while (I may stick around a day or two because your comments make me smile).’

Supergirl season 5 will air later in 2020.
