The Big Bang Theory season 12 spoilers: Show suffers HUGE blow just weeks before finale

The popular CBS series was still the most viewed show in the US last Thursday with 11.17 million viewers, but that does not mean there has not been a severe slump in viewers.

Last week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory saw the show have a season-low number of viewers at a time when it should be drawing in more viewers to view the final scenes.

The show also received a twelve-series low 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

Fans have complained about not much happening in the season so far, and are more anxious to just know what happens to their favourite characters in the end.

One Twitter fan said: “This last series has not been as funny. It’s finishing at the right time.”

Last week’s episode saw Amy Farrah Fowler (played by Mayim Bialik) prepare for a potential Nobel Prize win by using a sensory deprivation tank.

The scenes left Mayim feeling extremely uncomfortable for a very understandable reason.

Fans may be abandoning the show, but she is struggling to come to terms with it ending and wants it to carry on and on.

She revealed her sadness on Twitter as her dressing room on the set was dismantled: “My little corner of The Big Bang Theory stage at Warner Brothers is being dismantled piece by piece before the end of the series.

“Maybe my box of tissues should be the last thing to go [crying face emojis].”

She also added on her blog Grok Nation: “For nine years that room has been my hang out space, my socialising space, and my refuge. Pretty much every cast member has been in there at one point or another.

“My kids have hung out there. I’ve had boyfriends and ex-husbands join me, managers and agents, and my mom and her book club friends. It’s my place at work. I meditate and nap in my room every tape night for the past almost two years.”

Penny Hofstadter star Kaley Cuoco has also been vocal about how much she will miss the show in recent weeks.

She posted a photo on Instagram and captioned it: “TONIGHT don’t miss an all-new episode @bigbangtheory_cbs! Only a few curtain calls left!! Cue tears!!!”

Fans might be stopping watching the show, but its passionate fans are still devastated it will come to an end.

As a result, there will not be a live audience when the final episode is filmed because producers fear it will be too emotional for them.

Kaley previously revealed to E!News: “We’re actually going to pre-shoot the whole thing, so we’ll have shot it, and then we will have an audience taping.

“That was probably because they knew I’d be crying the entire time.

“So we still want the audience experience. We’re gonna still do the audience, but we will have taped it and shot it beforehand, so if the tears come unexpectedly, then that’s just what’s going to happen, because I guarantee you it’s going to happen.”

Could this be because of an emotional exit for Penny and husband Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki)?

CBS announced the hour-long series finale will be released May 16.

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS and in the UK on E4.
