The Big Bang Theory: Jim Parsons reveals why Sheldon was the real cause of his exit

In The Big Bang Theory’s series finale, Sheldon achieved a lifelong goal of winning the Nobel prize alongside partner Amy Farrah Fowler (played by Mayim Bialik).

Fans of the CBS show were pleased his character came to a complete end in the season 12 finale after year of being a firm fan favourite.

It was his decision to leave the show and some fans were shocked he wanted to leave the much-loved character after all those years against a backdrop of continued adoration.

Now, the star is moving onto new projects as he attempts to carve a career after Sheldon.

However, he is also looking back and has sat down to talk to Variety for their Power of Pride issue about the show and future plans.

On his departure from the show, he said: “I played the s**t out of that character, and some people could have done it longer probably — I don’t mean our show, but this relationship with the character.

“But I feel like we really wrung that material for what it was.”

He also added: “No matter how successful you are, even if you’re a huge success in movies, you don’t get to check into the same parking space for 12 years.

“This is not how someone in a creative profession normally gets to behave. Most human beings crave that structure, so I can see how it causes some hurricanes in the heart.”

He has now moved on and moved on to another city as he moved from Los Angeles to New York for his next role.

His next role is in Ryan Murphy’s The Boys in the Band, which is about a group of gay mean in the 60s coming together for a birthday party.

He also spoke about what coming out meant to him and how Pride events used to scare him and now he doesn’t care in a year in which Pride has been promoted more than ever.

When the show ended Sheldon revealed how hard saying goodbye to filming was: “That was tough. That was the first… miniature death.

“Because everything’s a last, suddenly. And that was the first of the evening’s lasts.”

Meanwhile, Sheldon and best friend Leonard Hofstadter’s (Johnny Galecki) time jump in the series finale had a hidden significance.

The legends had to jump into the future in order to fix the model and it all seemed normal enough.

Jumping 139 hours and 30 minutes into the future seemed pretty random at the time, but it has been revealed the jump was so much more significant than first thought.

If fans were to watch every single episode of the show in one go it would take five days, 19 hours and 30 minutes to watch the whole thing, according to the Bingeclock.

Put that time into hours and minutes it works out as 139 hours and 30 minutes, the exact length of Sheldon and Leonard’s time jump.

Sheldon’s on-screen friend Kaley Cuoco, who played Penny Hofstadter, has revealed a secret from filming.

The Big Bang Theory season 12 is available on CBS and All4.
