GETTING the balance right between relaxation and entertainment on a family holiday can be tricky.

That’s why holiday parks are a great option for families with children, as they’re usually based in great locations and have plenty of on-site entertainment to stop kids getting bored.

What’s more, a good range of children’s entertainment can spare the adults from getting frazzled on holiday so they can relax, too.

We’ve found the best holiday parks with plenty to keep kids entertained.

There are parks by the seaside and in peaceful woodland settings, and in popular holiday hotspots like Cornwall and Devon.

A short journey from the popular holiday resort of Clacton-on-Sea is this Park Holidays site that’s great for kids who love the traditional seaside experience.

There are kids clubs up to the age of 14 years, a heated indoor swimming pool with a flume, an adventure playground and sports pitch, and an entertainment venue wheres kids can meet fun characters.

At Tattershall Lakes in Lincolnshire there’s an outdoor lido and The Big Top tent – a pantomime-themed hangout spot for families where you can see a show and grab a drink.

With a stage area for entertainment, bar, large dining area, replica WWII land rover, and a new, covered outdoor play area along with plenty of opportunities to build sandcastles on the beach outside, kids will definitely be worn out by the end of the day.

Kids will love the adventure playground and two indoor swimming pools, as well as the tennis and crazy golf. They can even try their hand at fishing in the lake.

Families can grab lunch at The Boathouse Bar & Restaurant and enjoy an array of family shows, as well as heading to Greatstone Beach or Camber Sands – a little further away – for classic seaside activities.

Adventurous and energetic children will love Hafan y Mor in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park in North Wales.

There are no less than nine play areas, nine food and drink venues, and two entertainment venues. On top of that there are adventure trails, an aerial adventure course, sand pits, Segways and a multi-game sports court.

Kids can scale a climbing wall, take bike riding lessons or chill out on the boating lake and there’s even a heated indoor pool with a waterslide.

There’s heaps for kids to do at Shorefield Country Park, on the southern edge of the New Forest and close to the shingled shores of the beach at Milford-on-Sea.

The Showbar has live music, comedy acts and themed shows throughout the year – there’s even bingo and other gameshows.

Kids can meet the park’s mascots, Cyril, Cybil and Pat, and there are regular discos.

At the indoor and outdoor pools you’ll find shallow pool areas specifically for children and there are vast woodlands around to explore on foot or by bike.

This holiday park is set on the coastline of the Lizard Peninsula and is just a ten-minute drive to the nearest Blue Flag beach, where kids can build sandcastles and paddle in the water.

Back at the park there’s an indoor and outdoor pool, the ‘Crazy Caves’ indoor soft play area, crazy golf and family-friendly evening entertainment.

If adults need a break from entertaining, there’s also a great kid’s club for children up to the age of 15 with a multi-sports court and adventure play area.

This caravan park acts as the perfect base for a relaxing break and has excellent facilities for kids, including a soft play area, kids club and an adventure park.
