Becoming a parent brings happiness and joy, but at times can feel draining, particularly on the bank balance not to mention energy levels.

From the moment your little one is born they will be full of needs including feeds, playing, entertaining and much more.

But there are some apps that make parenting that little bit easier, and in the process can help you save time and money, and find a whole new community.

From free food to finding your tribe, we’ve done the hard work for you and rounded up the best parent apps…

Peanut

Need a little extra connection? Yet to find your mama clan? Or maybe just need some newborn advice? Then enter the wonderful world of Peanut.

Created by Michelle Kennedy who decided after her first child in 2017 that she wanted to create a safe space for new mums and parents-to-be, she aims to bridge the gap for all mums.

Peanut is predominantly a social site but also has many forums to ask questions and find information, with many blogs and articles too- which is comforting to read in between those middle-of-the-night feeds.

Olio App

With living costs rising all over the UK, it’s no wonder we’re feeling the pinch.

To help with family eating, the food-sharing app, Olio, helps you find local free food from supermarkets and eateries, shared by Squad Heros.

All food is perfectly edible but maybe not needed or at the end of its shelf life.

To join, you simply sign up, and add your location then you can see free food all around your area.

From bread to produce to sweet treats, food sharing is not only good for the planet but also helps to build sustainable communities and reduce waste. Win-win.

Too Good To Go

Alternatively, there is the Too Good To Go app. If you have a selection of favourite restaurants, cafes, shops or supermarkets that you like to visit then this app is a mouth-watering solution for you and your children.

You can pick up highly reduced food at the end of the day, often with 80% off, in a ‘magic bag’ that usually contains a selection of food at a fraction of the price.

The Nourish App

When the baby arrives, we are often told suggestions such as ‘sleep when the baby sleeps’ and ‘make time for self-care.’ This can feel particularly difficult after long nights full of feeds and sleep disruption but help is at hand with The Nourish App.

How can you grab 40 winks if you’ve got a mountain of washing to get through or you need to pump now your baby isn’t feeding? Oh, and you need to eat as well.

Designed to be a mental wellbeing toolkit in your pocket, its bite-sized chunks of yoga, meditations, audios, videos, reads, psychology insights and much more can help when you can’t dedicate much time to longer classes. Blissful, even if just for a few minutes.

‘Talking about wanting children can be uncomfortable and at REDDI we want to change that – giving everyone the opportunity to create great relationships and future families,’ says Stacy.
