Pride Month 2022 is well and truly underway, traditionally commemorating the Stonewall Riots which took place at the end of June 1969, while also celebrating and recognising LGBTQ+ people and the impact they have had on society.
This year is extra special, as the UK marks 50 years of Pride.
And what better way to celebrate than watching some of the best queer-related films?
With so many movies out there, it can be hard to know which ones are worth streaming.
So, Metro.co.uk has rounded up the best LGBTQ+ movies to watch this June – and how to stream them.
What movies should you watch for Pride 2022?
Call Me By Your Name
Described as a ‘sensual and transcendent tale of first love’, this coming-of-age story set it in 1980s Italy was released in 2018 to much acclaim. It stars the much-loved Timothée Chalamet as Elio, a teenager who ends up falling for 24-year-old graduate Oliver, played by Armie Hammer.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie
Desperate to pursue his dream of becoming a famous drag queen, teenager Jamie has to overcome many obstacles. In this true story turned musical turned film, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie was released in 2021 and is bound to inspire you.

Brokeback Mountain
If you fancy a classic from almost 20 years ago, Brokeback Mountain is a top pick. Set in 1963 Wyoming, the film follows two sheepherders who find themselves falling in love with each other, while struggling to hide the blossoming relationship from their wives.

Bohemian Rhapsody
A biography of Queen’s closeted front man Freddie Mercury, the film shows his struggle to come to terms with his sexuality and confront the HIV-positive status while in the spotlight.

Out
A great coming out story made by Pixar, Out follows Greg and his boyfriend’s big move to a new city and the process of him finally coming out to his parents. It is one of a small selection of LGBTQ+ films made by animation studios but was met with praise – and a rare 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Pride
This heartwarming film sees two unlikely causes – gay rights and the miners’ strike – merge in solidarity to protest against the British government led by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s.

Blue Is The Warmest Color
Feeling sophisticated? Then why not pop on this classic French LGBTQ+ movie.
The film follows 15-year-old Adele, who has just broken up with her boyfriend when she meets Emma – a punky teen with a choppy blue bob.
The film’s premise is based on the 2010 graphic novel of the same name by Jul Maroh.

The Prom
This feel-good musical sees a small Indiana town overrun by Broadway stars as they help a teen who just wants to go to prom with her girlfriend.
The all-singing all-dancing movie boasts star-studded cast including Meryl Streep, James Corden, and Nicole Kidman.

The Boys in the Band
Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto and Matt Bomer are among the all-star cast of The Boys in the Band.
Set in New York in the late 1960s, a gathering of gay men is interrupted by a surprise visitor, who turns the whole evening upside down.
