The best Anti-Valentine’s Day cards that won’t make you cringe

I have to say – I’ve never really been one for Valentine’s Day. I love it as an excuse to order my fave takeaway, but there’s something about teddy bear and love heart-adorned cards (and apparent need for overtly soppy Instagram posts) which makes my toes curl. I don’t really want to buy my OH a card which has “to the love of my life” splashed across the front (whether he is or not), and I think he’d be a bit cringed out if I did.

As Valentine’s Day preparations start to heat up, I’ve noticed said greetings cards flood the floors of every supermarket up and corner shop up and down the country. And as lovely as they are for some people, they’re not my cup of tea. What if, like me, you’re after something funny and a tad unusual to put a smile on the face of your famously unsoppy partner? Or what if you’re happily single but after a lovely card to show your BFF just how much she means to you? Where do we find those?!

Luckily, the anti-Valentine’s movement has really gained momentum over recent years, and we’re seeing a tonne of greetings cards rear their heads that appeal to singletons and unromantics alike. Phew. Anything Netflix character-related we’re totally here for (scroll for the You and Sex Education cards – they’re GREAT), and the girl power cards for your BFFs are equally as fab.

Whether you’re on the hunt for a Valentine’s Day card for your other half to reiterate the fact that you’re not bored yet, or something for your BFF, here are the best anti-Valentine’s Day cards to make them smile this 14th February. And while you’re shopping, make sure you check out our round-up of the best gifts to buy for yourself this V-Day (self love is key).
