The Batman Is Coming to CCXP in 2020

Matt Reeves is bringing The Batman to CCXP 2020. The director recorded a video message for DC fans in attendance at the annual event this weekend. Reeves’ announcement received a huge response from fans, who have been waiting years to see this movie make it to theaters. Robert Pattinson is the new version of the Caped Crusader and the actor recently revealed that he doesn’t believe the character is a superhero. There are actually a lot of people who feel the same way due to Batman’s lack of superpowers.

Production on The Batman is expected to begin early next year in London. This will give Matt Reeves plenty of time to craft the movie, though he already spent a pretty long time writing it. Ben Affleck was originally on board to write, direct, and star in the project, but he ended up dropping out after stepping down from each role. When Reeves was brought on, it pretty much signaled that Affleck was going to leave and pursue other ventures.

Since production is reportedly set for early next year, we should have our first look at Robert Pattinson as The Batman in the near future. Set leaks are almost a guarantee, though many will want to wait for the official reveal. By this time next year, Matt Reeves will have enough footage put together for CCXP. It is unclear if anything will be released before then at another Comic-Con. DC and Warner Bros. will be back at San Diego Comic-Con next year and Reeves may have some exclusive footage from the movie ready by then.

Robert Pattinson doesn’t think Batman is a superhero, as he stated in a recent interview. He will be joined in The Batman by co-stars Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton / The Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jayme Lawson as Bella, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, and Peter Sarsgaard as an unknown character. The movie is still shrouded in mystery, but it is believed the story will take Bruce Wayne back to his detective roots. Matt Reeves has talked about this aspect of the story ever since he took it on, though the story specifics are still unclear. Hopefully we’ll get some more info when production starts.

The Batman hits theaters on June 25th, 2021. The world will be watching very closely to see how Robert Pattinson takes on the Bruce Wayne role after so many others have played the iconic character. Joaquin Phoenix was able to take Joker in a new direction by making it his own. Some comic book fans were worried about the new direction, but the risk obviously paid off. Pattinson will also be taking the role in a new direction, though he probably won’t go as far as Phoenix went with the Clown Prince of Crime.
