The Strada Statale 163, which bends with the sharp, hairpin curves of the coastline, is known as one of the most beautiful drives in the world. The 40 kilometre road crosses from Sorrento to Salerno, with ferry services running between Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Salerno too. Positano is a gorgeous pastel-tinged village with houses nestled precariously on cliffs. It is the only place in the world where flat landscapes and straight roads feel totally out of place and where up and down are the only two directions that matter. Here, along the winding roads and cobblestoned streets, you will find plenty of stylish luxury hotels, cliffside cafés and Mediterranean restaurants to spend the afternoon in.

The hillside town of Ravello, located 350 metres above the sea, is a quiet yet elegant destination with excellent sea views and glamorous hotels.
