After Maroon 5 suggested The 1975 had taken some liberties in designing their latest album cover for single Me And You Together Song, Matty Healy has savagely ruined the group with one fatal tweet.

Late week the Adam Levine-fronted band felt the Brit group had copied the album cover for Kara’s Flowers (the former name of Maroon 5), which featured the four band members in red, green, yellow and blue tiles.

‘Hey @the1975, you guys big ‘Kara’s Flowers’ fans?’ the official Maroon 5 Twitter account tweeted, in a now-deleted comment.

But Matty wasn’t letting it slide, as he responded in the very not-deleted comment: ‘I don’t know what the f**k that is but I love that song about being in a phone box or whatever it is.’

Oh, mate, please call the burns unit because we’ve got an emergency scolding here.

FYI, that song Matty is referring to is Payphone. Or whatever it is.

His tweet opened a torrent of replies, though, with other comparisons to really blast Maroon 5’s plagiarism claim out the water.

Hot Chelle Ray, who had that one hit Tonight Tonight way back in 2011, jumped in on the action, posting their own album that had a pretty similar aesthetic.

‘Well, this is awkward… one of us is going to have to change,’ the band’s page wrote, along with the tags #whoworeitbest #whatever.

Then it was on.

Punters then wondered what Microsoft made of all this, drawing interesting comparisons of the iconic four window look in the same colours.

Or New Politics, and their album cover that was all about those opaque primary colours.

Queen was also dragged into it, same goes for Cowboy Bebop.

Uno?

Uno also loves a spot of red, green, yellow and blue on a black background.

Safe to say that Kara’s Flowers did not invent the (colour) wheel and while there is some similarities in all of these, can’t we all get along and celebrate all the colours and music and love and…or whatever it is.

Anyway, Alexa, play phone box.
