The 1975 singer Matt Healy defies Dubai’s anti-LGBTQ laws by kissing male fan on lips at concert

Frontman of The 1975 Matt Healy has defied Dubai’s anti-LGBTQ laws by kissing a male fan on the lips during a concert.

Footage shared by fans on social media showed the singer venturing into the crowd and kissing a member of the audience.

He is then seen returning to the stage and declaring: I love you bro. We’re all human, right?

Homosexual sex is illegal in the Arab Emirates and the UK Foreign Office advises that public displays of affection are frowned upon.

There have been arrests in the past for kissing in public.

Healy took to Twitter and thanked fans who attended the concert on Wednesday.

Addressing the kiss, he added: “I don’t think we’ll be allowed back due to my ‘behaviour’ but know that I love you and I wouldn’t have done anything differently given the chance again.”

“But who knows maybe they will let me back in let’s just wait and see :).”

It was the Cheshire band’s first gig in the United Arab Emirates.

They took home best British group and best British album at this year’s Brit Awards.

All three of their studio albums have gone to number one in the UK.
