With a heap of quality video games coming out in 2021, we take a look at our 10 most anticipated titles that are scheduled to drop this year.
We can go on about how awful 2020 was for the most part (which is fair enough considering everything that happened), but the one thing no one can find any issue with is the number of quality video games that was released over the last year.
From high quality remakes and big budget AAA titles to excellent indie gems and some VR goodness, 2020 has set the bar pretty damn high when it comes to new games in 2021.
Having said that, there’s a lot of exciting stuff to look forward to in 2021 and so we’ve cobbled together our top 10 list of the most anticipated video games for the year (assuming that these games actually come out on time and not get delayed).
Hitman 3
The new series of Hitman games have been something of a revelation and it’s getting what looks to be a dramatic conclusion with Hitman 3.
The thought of more exotic locations, stealthy missions, and freeform murder as Agent 47 is simply enticing.
Hitman 3 is set to release on Wednesday, January 20th.
The Medium
After a rocky development path which began in 2012 and involved cancellations, uncancellations, and console shifts, this creepy looking psychological horror game will finally see the light of day as an Xbox Series X/S exclusive.
We’ll find out soon enough if this will be any good but it looks goddamn scary as the game follows Marianne as she crosses over to the spirit realm in order to unravel its mysteries.
The Medium is set to release on Thursday, January 28th.
Horizon Forbidden West
I was initially a bit cautious about Horizon Zero Dawn but it ended up being one of my favourite games of the year.
So with Horizon Forbidden West, I have high hopes this time around as not only am I excited to experience another journey with Aloy, the prospect of exploring a new post-apocalyptic open world setting is all too enticing.
Horizon Forbidden West is penciled in for launch in the second half of 2021.
God Of War: Ragnarok
We have very little information about Ragnarok other than it’s a sequel to the brilliant 2018 God Of War reboot and that it’ll likely double down on the Norse mythology.
But given how bloody good its predecessor is, there’s no reason to believe why Ragnarok can’t match that level of quality.
God Of War: Ragnarok is scheduled for release in 2021 sometime.
Halo: Infinite
The development troubles that Halo: Infinite has gone through is well documented, but there are some interesting ideas going on based on what we’ve soon so far. Plus we get to play as Master Chief again and that’s just awesome.
At the very least I’m super curious to see what the final product is like given Infinite‘s rocky development process. It could be a masterpiece or a trainwreck but it’ll be entertaining nonetheless.

Far Cry 6
You can talk all you want about the Far Cry series’ open worlds, settings, characters, and stories, but Far Cry 6 has me sold based on one thing: Giancarlo Esposito is the big bad.

Deathloop
Looking like the bastard child of Groundhog Day and Dishonored mixed in with a dash of zany Deadpool energy, Deathloop and its over-the-top time loop/shooter premise looks ridiculous and fun in equal measure.
This may or may not turn out to be the best video game of 2021, but goddamn does it look entertaining and that’s why it makes the cut as one of our most anticipated games.
Deathloop is set to release on May 21st, 2021.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
The first Hollow Knight is one of the greatest 2D action games in recent memory and Silksong looks to be equally – if not more – impressive on all fronts.
Unfortunately we don’t have a set release window for this great looking game but I have my fingers crossed for a 2021 launch date.
Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake
This classic series is finally back after many years of laying dormant underneath the sand and boy is it good to see the Prince again.
While this remake doesn’t look like it has many new bells and whistles, it does look gorgeous. Then again, when you have a solid foundation like Sands Of Time to work with, you just know it’s going to be a great action-adventure experience.
Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake is set to release on March 18. 2021.
The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2
Okay, this is more out of hope than anything. But after years of not hearing anything from Nintendo, surely 2021 must be the year we hear something, especially since we have the series’ 35th anniversary coming up.
The open world design, story, and attention to detail made Breath Of The Wild one of the greatest gaming experiences I’ve ever had and I can’t wait to revisit Hyrule again in the sequel.
The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 doesn’t have a release date but I’m really hoping for a 2021 launch window.
