But Slovenia and French Carribean island Guadeloupe were chucked off the list after a spike in cases.

However those hoping to book a trip to the Asian favourites for some winter sun, will have to wait a little longer as both nations still have strict covid entry requirements.

Brits are currently barred from entering both, with out having to quarantine and pay for health checks.

Ex-pats living in both will be able to come back home without having to quarantine from 4am on Saturday.

Transport Minister Grant Shapps tweeted: “Latest data shows we need to remove SLOVENIA and GUADELOUPE from the Travel Corridor list to keep everyone safe. This means if you arrive in the UK from these destinations after 4am Saturday, you will need to self-isolate for 14 days.

“Separately, we will be adding SINGAPORE and THAILAND to the Travel Corridor list. Please check before you travel as both countries may have extra requirements before entering.”

Department of Transport data on Slovenia shows there has been a 102 per cent rise in cases in the last week.

And there has been a sharp increase in the weekly infection rate in Guadeloupe over the past four weeks – with case jumping 558 per cent  from the last week of August and Tuesday.

Health minister Lord Bethell told MPs at the Commons Science and Technology Committee said they were unlikely to implement tests at the border to shorten quarantine any time soon.

He said his department was working closely with the Department for Transport, airlines and airports.

He added: “I would love to see the reopening of borders when we can.

“But the CMO (chief medical officer) is really clear, we’ve already had very tough outcomes from people coming into the country, bringing the disease with them and we have to rely on people complying with quarantine and the evidence suggests that that’s a very difficult thing to rely upon.”

Brit tourists could be forced to quarantine or even banned from all EU countries due to Covid from January
