Test how well your friends know you with Instagram Stories’ new Quiz sticker

More than 500 million people use Instagram Stories every single day so the platform is hard at work to bring in new features to keep them entertained.

From questions, to polls and music integration, there’s a new Instagram Story feature in town: quizzes.

That’s right – from today you can now set your followers quizzes on a Story post, whether it’s an image or a feature.

Instagram said in a statement: “The Quiz Sticker is a new interactive sticker that lets you ask your friends and followers a multiple-choice question. Posting a quiz is an easy way to express what you’re into—and see how well your friends know you!

How to make quizzes on Instagram Stories

  1. Open up the camera on the Instagram app and find the sticker tray – where things like emojis and GIFs are stored.

  2. There is where you will find the new Quiz Sticker, near the Location and Mention stickers.

  3. Give your quiz a name, add between two and four possible answers, and customise the colour.

  4. Make sure to select which is the right answer when creating the quiz.

  5. Share to your story and see which of your friends answer the question correctly.

New ways of interacting on Instagram

Stickers on Instagram Stories are a major way that people interact with each other on the platform now and it’s all part of a move by the social network to get people to move away from the grid, and away from the pressure of Like counts.

Currently, Instagram is testing removing visible like counts on posts on the feed, as a way to emphasise what is being posted, not how many likes a post gets. It’s only a prototype at the moment that isn’t visible to the public yet so there’s no guarantee that it will actually happen but it would be a very interesting move for the platform.

Aside from the potential problems this could cause for influencers, social media companies are under pressure to remove features such as “Likes” because of the effect they can have on their users.

The UK’s Information Commissioner Office recently released a proposed child-friendly design code that would remove these “nudge” techniques, included likes and streaks, that keep children online and allow companies to harvest data about them.

Instagram removing the Like button could be a sign it’s looking to jump before it’s pushed.
