Teresa Giudice speaks out after a judge denied Joe's appeal to be released from ICE custody

Teresa Giudice takes somber tone while speaking out for first time since judge denied Joe’s appeal to be released from ICE custody: ‘It’s a sad time with my husband’

A judge denied Joe Giudice’s appeal to be released from Immigration And Customs Enforcement custody on Friday.

Now his wife, Real housewives Of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice, is speaking out for the first time since this latest setback in the effort to avoid Joe from being deported back to his native Italy.

‘It’s a sad time with my husband and everything, so we’re going to try and work it out as best we can,’ she told People on Saturday.

The reality star, 47, added, ‘The most important thing is our four daughters, so I’m hoping Joe is able to stay in the United States.’

Giudice’s lawyer had requested that Joe be released so that he could spend time with his family at their New Jersey home while they await the court’s final decision in his deportation case.

The family, including daughters Gia, 18, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 14 and Audriana, 10, have been pushing for his release since he was detained by ICE in March following his release from prison.

Joe is extremely disappointed,’ Giudice family attorney James J. Leonard revealed on Friday

‘He spent the last six months in a cage not able to hug or kiss his wife or daughters when they came to visit him. We treat animals in shelters better than we treat human beings in these ICE facilities.’

In the interim, Joe will remain behind bars at the Clinton County Correctional Facility in Pennsylvania until the final determination is made.

Joe had been in prison serving a 41-month sentence for conspiracy to commit wire and bankruptcy fraud.

He served his sentence right after Teresa finished 11-months of a 15-month prison sentence for fraud. The judge in the case allowed them to serve separately so their children would have at least one parent in the house.

Turns out, Joe was born in Italy and moved to the United States as an infant with his parents, but he never attained American citizenship and stayed in the country on a green card after marrying Teresa in 1999.
