Teen Mom's Jenelle Evans split with husband David Eason because 'she's running out of money'

Jenelle Evans’ decision to split with David Eason was financially-driven, in a move to get back to earning big bucks after the network canned her in May after he fatally shot the family dog.

‘She’s running out of money,’ an insider told Radar Thursday. ‘There is no money left and she wants to make money again.’

Evans, 27, recently came to the realization it was time to part ways with Eason, the source said, and ‘decided to end the marriage before it is too late.’

Eason’s costly actions – her Teen Mom gig paid $400,000 annually, the outlet reported – and inaction when it came to working marked the tipping point for Evans, according to the source.

‘It went off like a light bulb in her head: “I have this husband that doesn’t work? What in the hell am I going to do?”‘ the insider said.

Evans’s announcement of a split came as a surprise to Eason, who ‘didn’t know anything about this’ and ‘doesn’t know where she is’ after leaving their North Carolina home, a separate insider told the outlet.

‘He thinks she’s around town but she’s not and she’s not going to go back until he’s gone,’ the insider said. ‘He thinks she’s just gone for a couple of days.’

Eason, who ‘refuses to get a job,’ is ‘going to s**t his pants’ once the financial ramifications of the parting set in, as ‘he has no money for even gas,’ according to the insider.

The pair have attempted other endeavors including a brow kit company, to no avail, financially, and Jenelle ‘finally made this decision’ to put an end to the union more than two years after they tied the knot in September of 2017.

‘She went to New York to meet some people [and] they told her not to bring David,’ the insider said. ‘He was so mad.’

Evans on Thursday said in an Instagram post, ‘With time away from Teen Mom, I’ve started to look at my life differently and I know I need to make changes. I’m starting that now.

‘The kids and I have moved away from David,’ she said. ‘Nobody gets into a marriage expecting it to end but I know that’s what is best for me, and for my kids. Today I’ve filed papers to start that process.’

She continued: ‘I appreciate the support from everybody who has asked how I am. Me and the kids are doing great. We need some time to be together, but you’ll hear from us again soon.’

A source told TMZ Jenelle believed she would not have any kind of career if she remained with David.

She struggled to launch a make-up company after her departure from MTV. Her $40 JE Cosmetics Universal Brow Kit was launched at New York Fashion Week just last month but was blighted by poor sales – she only managed to sell 150 kits in the first week.

With the couple struggling for money following the loss of their main revenue stream, welder Eason had launched a knife-making business on Etsy in August.

Announcing the move on Facebook, Eason wrote: ‘I want to give a big THANK YOU to my…beautiful wife Jenelle for always believing in me and positively encouraging me!’

But fans were outraged as the venture came just a few months after the 31-year-old admitted to shooting and killing Jenelle’s French bulldog on April 30 after he nipped at their toddler daughter Ensley.

The fallout from the killing saw the mom-of-three fired from the MTV series on which she had appeared for most of the past decade.

The shooting also led to Jenelle and her husband losing temporary custody of Ensley, two. The reality star also lost custody over her five-year-old son, Kaiser – who she shares with ex Nathan Griffith.

David lost custody of his 11-year-old daughter, Maryssa. The children returned home in July. Jenelle’s eldest son, Jace, 10, continued to live with her mom – who has had custody over him for much of his life.

After regaining custody of Maryssa, Kaiser and Ensley in July, the couple took a class to better their relationship. They also adopted two new puppies, Anatolian Shepherds Buddy and Junior.

David and Jenelle were a couple for two years before they married. This is Jenelle’s second divorce.

Troubles of a Teen Mom: Jenelle Evans’ stormy relationship history

Jenelle was then signed up for spin-off show Teen Mom, and viewers watched as she battled both drug use and mental illness.

After Lewis, she had a rocky romance with Kieffer Delp, chronicled in the first four seasons of Teen Mom, with the two arrested for breaking and entering and drug possession in October 2010.

Another Tinder romance came next, when she met David Eason on the popular dating app in September 2015.

Jenelle underwent a sterilization procedure in April 2019. That same month Eason shot and killed the family dog after it bit toddler Ensley’s face.

Jenelle was dropped by MTV following the incident and temporarily lost custody of her children.

She announced she had filed for divorce in October, after two years of marriage.
